Despite our crazy week... the Dr. gave us the go ahead to do an Easter Hunt if the kids felt up to it. Thatcher man was for sure on the top of his game... and Eme will do pretty much anything, even when sick, for candy. (However, the night before she was refusing to eat candy... a burger... or even juice in her bottle... a new low point for even her) Even though she was a little cranky... we headed out for an amazing afternoon at the Hogle residence.
The best shot we got in their Easter clothes... good thing Thatcher carries the picture... LOVE LOVE LOVE that face.
My cute aunt Holly and Grandma Annie had planned an amazing sack lunch and kids Easter Egg hunt. Each kid got a super cute bag that they could fill with Easter Eggs, Candy, Fruit Snacks, Beach Balls and Toys. They loved it. Emerson didn't quite get it at first... she wanted to open each egg when she found it and eat the candy before moving on... but eventually she caught on.
Love these two. They are so cute together and I still can't believe that Emerson is 4 months older than Georgia. I held up one of the beach balls to Georgia and asked her what it was... to which she responds... "that's a little beach ball Maddie." I asked Emerson the exact same question and got... "a ba." Oh well... hopefully she will catch up eventually.
Munching on all of their loot.
I can't get enough of this boys face. It is so nice to have my happy boy back and I love waking up to this gorgeous smile in the morning.
After the kids portion of the day... my mom put on an awesome couples adult egg hunt. Like all of her Easter Events... this did not disappoint. Each hidden egg was marked with a letter and the goal was to spell Easter, Bunny or Hop with the eggs you collected. Who ever spelled it first would win the Gold, Silver, or Bronze egg. The catch was that there were several E's A's B's H's and pretty much every letter. Also, you could only collect a total of 24 eggs as a couple so you had to be selective. After about a half an hour, everybody could almost spell at least one word. Unfortunately, no one had T, U or O. That is when we found out that there was only one of those letters and they were hidden the very hardest. Despite our best efforts, and the large size of Grandma's back yard, we resorted to a little game of hot and cold... mixed with a little wrestling. Unfortunately for us, William and Annie were victorious and claimed the Golden egg. Lizzy and Russ to home the Silver and Billy and Adair took the bronze. Also hidden in various eggs was a piece of paper with a number on it the corresponded to a random prize. Everybody went home a winner and we had a blast.
We also celebrated my Grandpa Hugh's birthday. He is such an amazing man and we are so grateful for the example he has set for us.
Can't forget this sweet photo either. After we had finished everything up... Tanner told Greg... "hey, take me for a ride on our bike." Greg was like "whatever," but Tanner told him he wasn't joking and he was serious... he wanted a ride. I snapped this shot just as they were about to take off. When they got back and I showed Greg the picture... his response was, "at least I look good." Oh Tanner, what are we going to do with you.
The next day we had a little Easter egg hunt for Emerson at my Parents, along with our traditional Easter Brunch. We kept sneaking the found eggs out of Eme's basket and kept re-hiding them... usually in exactly the same places... she didn't care or even notice and had a ball. Easter has always been one of my most favorite holidays and this year was no exception. Even when I thought illness would win... we still had a blast and got to spend so much time with the people we love.
